Totally cool idea

So, those nerds over at MIT (via Engadget) brought to my attention this totally awesome idea. Its a do it yourself jumbo-tron. Epic idea and this could be a lot of fun.

Check it out.

Pi Day (Not so much Nerd Boner, as just plan Nerd)

Today, being March 14th is Pi Day. (3.14). So, out of all the days in the year to think about the algebra equations involving ∏, it should be today. Here you go, Nerds.

Circumference = π × diameter
Area of the circle equals π times the area of the shaded square
Because π is a transcendental number, squaring the circle is not possible in a finite number of steps using the classical tools of compass and straightedge.

Space Shuttle Discovery, I'd like to discover you

So, the Discovery Shuttle took off last week for its final "up and down." (If I had a nickel.) I did try to watch the launch live via the web (i know, how nerd of me?) but my internet connection shit out (how un-nerd of me?) and i missed the whole damn thing. But watching the prelaunch really reminded me of why I liked space as a kid and how I watched Space Camp 47,000 times.
I wanted this to be my life. If you haven't want seen this, I highly recommend it. (On a side note: When I went to visit NASA, I kept trying to get away from the group and get into the space shuttle so that it (accidentally) took off and I could be the youngest person in space. Needless to say, it didn't happen. Damn security.

So, to finish this off, check out how awesome this photo is. Nerd Boner.

iPad 2, the future is now

ipad-3g.jpg

This ner version has me more excited then the new iPhone 4. Finally, an iPad that will make me feel like I belong in an episode of StarTrek. With that Facetime camera on a generous screen with a faster processor and graphics card. Now where the hell is that hover board?

Crush of the Week

Today's Felicia Day.
Ultimate Nerd Boner Giver. Thanks Felicia for keeping us laughing and doing it while being hot.

Also, a more personal note: Ms Day is a constant source of inspiration. The way she writes, produces and stars in her own web series is totally awesome. She inspires me to keep writing and doing my nerdy thing. One Day it will pay off. (Did you see what I did there?)

Goldeye

I came (in my pants) across an ad for the new Wii only, GoldenEye 007 game. It is a remake of the old Nintendo 64 Golden Eye game. Awesome.
Here is a link to the commercial.

Blackberry Bold

As the resident blackberry user for this site I an stocked about the new Blackberry Tour 2 or as it is sometimes called Essex. (What a kick ass codename. It reminds me a James Bond gadget.) Its basically the Blackberry Tour, but with a faster processor, trackpad (instead of the track ball) and built in wifi. Now there are two main reasons why I want this blackberry, verses the Blackberry Curve that Verizon is pushing on me. One, Essex has a flash for the camera where the new Curve has had its flash removed. WTF? Why would you remove a flash. Does that really save you anything? Its not like a flash takes up internal space. And, as an avid twitpic-er I am constantly taking photos in bars and clubs and sending them out on the twitterverse. I need a flash. The second reason I am holding out for the Essex is the built in Wifi. I currently work at a company where the cell service can be shady and with the built in wifi, I will be able to surf the web and respond to email faster. And of course, update the twitter. The bad news is that the Essex was suppose to come out in early February but rumor has it that the product was pulled for software upgrades and management. Which sucks, but in hindsight, taking the device and getting it ready to go before releasing it to the public is a smart move by Verizon. They didn't want to release a faulty product.
UPDATE: So, I finally purchased my new device. The Blackberry Bold on Verizon. I believe this is one of three devices that will support the new Operating System 6 which is all about the touch screen. This specific device does not have a touch screen, but it will still perform most the functions that are offered in the OS6. At least I hope so. I will give you a second update once the new OS is released. For those of you (thanks mom for reading) who are interested in the OS6 should head over to the Torch website. This is the only device running OS6.
